Evolving Style

Untitled-4

Yesterday I turned 29. Holy crap, I feel old. As I enter the last year of my 20’s, I realize how my style has evolved and changed over the years. I think back to my elementary school days. Before I went to private school and had to wear a uniform everyday, you would find me in ‘Tickle Me’ clothing. If you don’t know what ‘Tickle Me’ is, that’s a good thing. But just to paint you a picture – printed bike shorts, big shirts with faces and people on them with hair!! Actual hair (I mean not REAL hair, but you get me). Like, my shirt was 3-dimensional. And then I likely had some sort of bow to match the printed bike shorts. Sexy, I know.

As I went through my later years in elementary school through middle school, I definitely started caring more and more about style. I would, by no means, say I was a fashion icon or style maven, BUT I was more interested in clothing and fashion. High school came around and I was more into ‘basic’ pieces. For example, I remember vividly my first day of high school I wore these dark jeans with a black belt and a turquoise top (remember those fitted ones from Express that everyone owned? Oy.). Nothing fancy schmancy.

Fast forward to freshman year of college, when I worked part time at Intermix, and that’s when I really got into FASHION and when I had a strong feeling I’d want to work in the industry.

It’s interesting because later in college and post college I was all about ‘bold’ looks, such as bright colors, fabulous prints, and so on. While I do still wear said things from time to time, I am MUCH more about neutrals these days. Neutral colors, simple looks, and pieces I’ll have for years to come. I’ve rounded up some of my current favorites below. How has your style evolved over the years? Would love to know!
