Running

As the Houston Marathon and Half Marathon approaches (Sunday!) I’m extra pumped for it because one of my best friends will be running the Half, and I’ll be there with a big (and likely it’ll be glittery because why not?!) sign to support her (and then we will proceed to stuff our faces at brunch afterwards, with mimosas of course).

Personally, I’ve never been a fan of running. I admire those who can do it. Back in the day, while in P.E. class, I would HATE when we had to run laps. I’d totally pull a Cher from Clueless and try to make up excuses why I couldn’t run that day. I’d attempt to run on the treadmill, and I’d feel winded within minutes. I just didn’t like how I felt doing it. Running was simply not my thing.

Well, last week, my mom and I went on a little spa getaway for a couple days, and each day we went to the gym, and each day I attempted to run on the treadmill. And guess what, guys? I didn’t feel winded! I ran 10-12 minutes each day (I mean at 4.2-4.5…it wasn’t too fast, lets not get carried away here), and I felt great. And, I actually really enjoyed it!! I’ve decided I’m going to run a few times a week at the gym and each time push myself to go for longer and longer. We’ll see how this goes, but for now, I have to say I’m pretty excited about it.

If you’re one of those people who is not a fan of running (like me), I urge you to give it a go again, even just for a few minutes at a time. Put on some fun tunes, pump up the volume, and you may be surprised with yourself. I’m not sure I’ll be doing a marathon anytime soon, but go Alex go (that’s my friend who is running on Sunday!!)

I hope you all have a great weekend and I’ll see you back here on Monday!
