The Wedding Series: Dress//Shoes//Jewelry

It’s funny because for so long before our wedding (even before we got engaged) I envisioned myself changing out of my wedding gown and into a shorter little party dress after the ceremony, for the reception. Well, let me tell you, once I found ‘the dress’ there was no way in hell I was changing out of that gown (except for after I jumped into the pool at the end of the night in my gown and then it was soaking…but we’ll get into that at a later date).

The first store I went to and the first dress I tried on I thought was the one. My mom and I both said ‘this is it, we know it.’ However, we didn’t want to stop looking just yet. So, we went to another store, tried the same dress on along with some others, and ended up deciding on another. I still love(d) the first one, but this one felt more ‘bridal’ and more my fashion style. I really wanted something simple, modern, and elegant. I ended up getting a Monique Lhuillier gown from Joan Pillow Bridal Salon.

I didn’t want too high of a heel because my hubby (ah, I have a hubby!) isn’t too too much taller than me and I also wanted to be comfortable. I decided on the Jimmy Choo heels pictured above. I hadn’t worn them until the wedding day, and by the end of the night, it looked like the shoes had been worn for months straight. I danced a lot, what can I say?!

I had the train of my dress extended a bit and I wore a simple cathedral length veil.

I wore very little jewelry. A bracelet that I borrowed from my mom along with my Love bracelet and earrings that I kind of borrowed/kind of stole from my mom. She was wearing them and I essentially took them off her ears and put them on mine. And then my ring.

In terms of my bustle, I did a French bustle. To be honest, I didn’t know there was more than one type of bustle, but, guess what? There is! The French bustle I liked better with my dress.

And there you have it…my dress, shoes, and jewelry! Up next: Makeup and Hair.

P.S. There was a little mishap with my dress. Long story short, there was a FedEx issue and the dress kind of went missing in action for a few days. Lo and behold, we got the dress. Joe from Fed Ex, if you’re reading this, thank you so much again for hand delivering my dress to me! You rock.
