My Favorite Site for Decorating on a Budget

I furnished almost my entire apartment from this one site.

When I moved back to NYC, I knew I didn’t want to go crazy with purchasing furniture. I didn’t take any furniture from our place in Houston, and I sold my home office items because I knew there wouldn’t be room for them in my place here. I also figured since Matthew and I will be living back in the same city again within the year and who knows what that next home / apartment will look like, size, etc, I should keep my furniture purchases inexpensive and efficient for the year. However, I also didn’t want to sacrifice style and just settle for anything. I wanted to feel good about my little studio.

So, online shopping I went.

Once the apartment was in the “almost finalized” stage, I began looking for furniture and saving items on various sites. And then once everything was signed, sealed, and delivered, I started adding to cart!

I got the majority of my furniture and decorative pieces from All Modern (which, if you’re not familiar, is under the same umbrella with Wayfair and Joss & Main, if those are more your speed!). It really is the best site.

The prices are incredible and the options are endless (art, too!). With several of my items, it said it would be shipping on ‘x’ day, but it typically shipped sooner, and everything is so damn easy to put together.

Aside from the bed and the high top table, I put everything together myself!! Seriously. Granted, Matthew and Jesus (pronounced Haysoos, wonderful maintenance man who works in my building) both had to help tighten some bolts and things (they’re called bolts, right?), but more or less I put a lot together!! Can you tell I’m impressed with myself? That’s because I am (or thought I was!) literally the least handy person ever.

ANYWAY, everything came quickly, easy to assemble, and did I mention how great the prices are?

I only ended up returning / exchanging two items and it wasn’t because they were broken or anything of that nature. The original ottoman I got was a bit too dark, so I went with a lighter one. And the original floating shelves I got were too big so I exchanged for smaller ones.

And let me tell you..their customer service is TOP NOTCH. No joke. I called them a shit ton asking questions and inquiring about various things / helping with the returns and all that, and they were SUCH a pleasure to deal with. Every single person I talked to on the phone was friendly as can be, SO helpful, and so wonderful!! It made the whole process that much more enjoyable.

No, this post is not sponsored by All Modern; I simply wanted to share the love and hope you’ll shop there and love it as much as I do.

And in terms of runners up to All Modern, I also got a couple things from Overstock, Houzz, and World Market. I recommend those, too, but All Modern is definitely my favorite.

Below are several of the items that are in my apartment, but trust me when I say you’ll start browsing on the site and fall down a rabbit hole and won’t come out for hours. I know this first hand.
