An Important Mission

You all know my friend Megan by now (she’s on my blog every other day it seems), but what you all might not know is that she had ovarian cancer (you can read about it on her blog or in her book). Something else you might not know is how prevalent ovarian cancer is. And, with that, how there is no early detection. You’d think by now, in 2015, there would be, right?

Through Megan, I learned about Judy’s Mission. And Judy’s Mission exists for three important reasons: 1. To increase awareness about ovarian cancer and its symptoms and to help call attention to the need for early diagnosis and treatment of the disease 2. To educate the medical community as well as women on the signs, symptoms, and the critical nature of early diagnosis of ovarian cancer 3. To fund research for effective screening and treatment of ovarian cancer. The story behind Judy’s Mission is an incredible one, and I urge you to read it.

So, last week, a group of us (bloggers, photographers, small business owners) got together for a photo shoot to support Judy’s Mission and help raise awareness for ovarian cancer, in honor of Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month (which is September). The very talented Rocio snapped the photos on a beautiful, but sweaty, morning (hence the frizz in my hair).
