A Fresh Start

You know those days that are just a bit ‘off’? Whether it’s from waking up on the wrong side of the bed, not feeling as prepared for a meeting as you wish you were, or simply just feeling uninspired, these days happen. To all of us. The other day this happened to me. I can’t pinpoint what made me feel this way or why (heck, it could have just been PMS), but it was just one of those ‘off’ days. And, I’m not going to sugarcoat it. Those kind of days pretty much suck.

You know what’s pretty fucking amazing though?

Excuse the language, but it helps to get the point across.

You get to have a fresh start that very next day. You know what? You could even choose to have that fresh start that same day if you have it in yourself to get in that mindset.

What’s really amazing, though, is that you can go to bed, rub that less than ideal day off, get a good night sleep, and wake up with a clean slate, a fresh start, a new beginning.

Guess what, guys? You don’t have to wait for a new month or a new year to start fresh.  You can start fresh EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. Yes, really.

The new year typically is synonymous with resolutions, and if you’re one who makes new ones every single year (personally, I’m not, but more the power to those who do!), don’t be so hard on yourself if you don’t keep those resolutions. So you said you’re going to eat healthy and workout daily in 2017, and all of a sudden it’s days into the new year and you haven’t lifted a weight, and you’ve eaten basically crap every day, ok, so what? Start fresh tomorrow. It doesn’t matter that the new year has come and gone, it doesn’t matter if it’s mid week and you want to start fresh. Do it.

Every single day is a chance to start anew. Take advantage of that. Take full advantage.

If you’re trying your best and doing everything you can to be the best possible version of yourself, you’re doing great. You’re doing better than great. You’re killing it, so give yourself a massive pat on the back.

As the first Monday of the new year, a new week, and my first post of 2017, this is me telling you to not be so hard on yourself if you don’t stick to those resolutions or ‘fuck up’ and wish you had done something differently. Well, wake up tomorrow morning and do it. As the sun rises each day, remind yourself that you can also get up and start over and kick ass. As L.M. Montgomery once said, “Isn’t it nice to think that tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it yet?” Today is that day. You got this.
