Thoughts From My Desk: Wedding Edition

Thoughts from my desk...

It’s been almost 4 months since I got engaged, and I haven’t yet given you all an update, so I figured this post will serve as a great one. For starters, we have set our date, which was kind of a pain in the butt to figure out. Between coordinating with close friends schedules, previous family commitments, and a ton of other conflicts, I’d say picking the date has been the most annoying part, by far. However, we have one! We will be getting married next summer in South Florida. We have all our main vendors, including an amazing event planner, Sara Renee. I am currently en route back down to Florida with my mom for a jam packed week of wedding escapades (we literally have a meeting or appointment every hour it seems). Matthew and my dad will meet us there later in the week, and I’m hoping to get some sun and pool time in between all the madness.

Otherwise, things are coming along. We have registered, save the dates are going to be sent out within the next couple weeks, the list is pretty much finalized, we’re currently figuring out engagement photos, I’ve gone dress shopping and think I found the one (first dress I tried on actually), and we have decided on a ‘couples/co-ed shower,’ instead of a bridal shower, in January.

All in all, things are going smoothly. I went into the wedding planning process not wanting to be stressed and staying far away from the whole ‘bridezilla’ complex. I just want it to be a happy time, not only for Matthew and me, but for all family and friends involved. I’ll be back with another update soon enough. Have a great week!

Today’s Tip for Current and Future Brides: There are no rules. Something I’ve learned throughout the process is that it’s personal and you should do what makes you happy. While there are many wedding traditions, that doesn’t mean you can’t start your own traditions. Be true to yourself and what you want, and just remember to have fun and be happy.

Love this. I especially love your tip, we tend to want to please those we love but really truly this is about us and our partners…. Enjoy the process lady!! We won’t be planning ours until after bebe is born but I’ll be pinning and getting ideas (from here and other places) to keep until then!

I hope you share your “save the date” on the blog. I love save the dates for some reason – I feel like they allow the most leeway for a couple’s personality and creativity!
