sim·ple (adj): plain, basic, or uncomplicated in form, nature, or design; without much decoration or ornamentation.
There’s something about a simple life. I’ve thought about this often, and just last night I watched an episode of “My Love: Six Stories of True Love,” and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it. This adorable couple, married for 60+ years, lives the simplest life and couldn’t be happier. All their family lives in the same town that they’ve lived in for decades, they have a family business that’s been around for generations, there were very few moments of any of them being on their cell phones, and social media didn’t come up even once.
I sometimes wish I lived in the 50s when things certainly seemed a lot less complicated, when the only way to get in touch was via snail mail or a landline, when nights out consisted of a drive in movie and a local diner where everyone knew each other. Maybe it exists in certain small towns these days, but I think it’s few and far between.
While I might not live in a small town and there might not be a drive in down the street and my cell phone is attached to my hip (sadly) and social media is a way of life these days, as I finish out this year and move into 2023 I’m really making a concerted effort to make my life even just a bit simpler. Because it seems pretty damn magical if you ask me.
