Hello 2016

2016 New Year

Hello 2016! Here we are, a few days into the new year. Hope you all had a fun New Year’s Eve! Mine was fairly low key, but I still drank far too much wine, so there’s that. I certainly can’t hang like I used to! #old

And now it’s back to the grind. The last couple weeks have been quieter on the work front, and it’s been great to kick back, BUT I’m not going to lie; I’m excited for the new year and getting back into my routine.

While I don’t necessarily make resolutions for the new year; I do like to think ahead about goals, things I’d like to continue to do, changes I might like to make, and so on. So, keep on reading for a little peek into what I am looking forward to in 2016. Happy New Year!

Daily meditation. I had been wanting to start meditating for so long, and every time I would attempt it, I would stop after a minute and think it ‘didn’t work.’ Well, a few weeks back I really started to mediate (with the help of the insanely incredible app called Headspace), and, you guys, what they say about meditation is true. I can absolutely see how it can be life changing. In just this short time, where I haven’t even been doing it every single day, I’ve noticed a difference in myself. I’m less irritable, less anxious, and simply more content. It’s pretty incredible.

Continuing to figure out who I am. While I feel I do know myself well, and over this past year, I’ve really learned A LOT about who I am, I think I still have a ways to go. We all do. I’m excited to keep traveling along this path I like to call self discovery. It’s a never ending road, and it can be a really great one if you allow it to be.

Seeing more of my nephew. I’m lucky to live in the same city as my niece and 1 of my nephews, and I love seeing them. However, I, sadly, don’t live in the same city as my other nephew. I’m excited to see that little munchkin this month and many more times throughout the year. Seeing him grow via FaceTime is not enough. I want to hug him and cuddle with him in person!

Being more spontaneous and living in the moment. I wouldn’t call myself a big time planner, but more or less, I like a routine and I stick to a schedule of sorts. Though, the times that aren’t planned are sometimes the very best. I’d love to have a few spontaneous adventures in the new year. Whether it be a spur of the moment trip or taking off an afternoon of work and doing something out of the ordinary.

Starting my second book. I have plans to start my second book (a novel) in the summer. I’m going to be taking some writing courses, as well, which I’m very excited about.

Happy celebrations. I have quite a year ahead of me when it comes to celebrations. Weddings and showers and bachelorette parties and more. I’m looking forward to celebrating happy moments with people I love.

Surrounding myself with positive people. If you saw my recent segment on FOX, you saw I talked about avoiding toxic people. I’m making it my mission this year to remove all negativity and toxic energy from my life.

Volunteering. I’ve applied to be a volunteer at a local children’s hospital, and I’m really looking forward to starting this year. The world is a big place, and there’s a lot more out there than what immediately surrounds you. These little kids are brave souls, and I would love nothing more than to help put smiles on their faces.

What are you most looking forward to in the new year? Share in the comments below or shoot me an email! Would love to hear.
