Guest Bedroom Essentials

Guest Bedroom Essentials

Having company stay over is something I thoroughly enjoy. Whenever friends or family stay with us, I always want to make sure they feel literally right at home. Besides the necessary items (pillows, blanket, comfortable bed, working TV, lamp, lots of light, etc), there are other items I think are totally essential. Below I’ve rounded up some of the items I feel are necessary to have in your guest room.

Guest-Room-Essentials

Guestbook: I love the idea of having house guests write a little message and the date they stayed within a guest book. It’s something fun to look back on down the road.

Basket of treats: What guest wouldn’t want a basket of goodies they can munch on throughout their stay? You can also get some food items that are unique to wherever you live, to give your guests a taste of where they are staying.

Pitcher of water and glasses: It’s always nice to have water on the nightstand so they don’t have to rummage through the kitchen to find it late at night.

Fresh flowers: Flowers brighten up any room and they add a sense of comfort and happiness to a space. An arrangement of fresh flowers are one of the most important items to have in your guest room (in my opinion).

Various phone chargers: We all know how it feels to get somewhere and to realize your phone is about to die AND you didn’t bring your phone charger. It’s nice to have a little stash of phone chargers so they don’t have to stress.

Toiletries basket: I keep a toiletries basket in my powder room year round, even when guests aren’t staying with us (but I especially make sure it’s completely stocked when guests arrive for their stay). Fill it with the basics – toothpaste, lotion, mouthwash, disposable razor, mini shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and so on. I also have a stash of never used hotel toiletries minis that I love to include.

Above all, you want to make your guests feel completely comfortable, and don’t forget to have fun in the process.

  4. What great ideas! We always try to have fresh flowers in the guest room — it makes all the difference and people feel right at home. Another must-have is a calming scented candle and some pretty matches too!
