5 Apps You Need to Download Immediately

Apps-to-Download-Immediately

I’m on my phone all the time. I know it’s not necessarily a good thing, but the truth is I use it for a lot more than just texting and social media. There are apps on my phone that help me throughout my day, help me stay sane, and some are simply fun to use. So, I’m going to jump right into it and tell you the apps you need to download immediately, if not sooner.

  1. Calm: Meditation to Relax, Focus, and Sleep Better / I’ve been into meditation for a little over a year now, but I took a little hiatus at one point. I, originally, started meditating using the Headspace app, and while I did like it, I didn’t love it. I always knew of Calm, but for some reason I didn’t think of it for meditation; I just thought about it for calming background noise. Not that long ago, my friend Samira told me how she uses Calm for meditation on the daily. I immediately tried it, and I was instantly addicted. I do it almost everyday, and I truly look forward to it each morning. There are different background noises you can choose from while going through the guided meditation practice, and it really helps start my day on the very best foot possible. You can start with a 7 day free trial, and then you can upgrade as you see fit. HIGHLY recommend.
  2. Evernote – Stay Organized / My dad introduced me to this one a while back, and I’ve been using it ever since. Basically, it’s an app that allows you to take notes, make lists, save images and articles you find online, along with many other functions. I love that it syncs with all your devices, so no matter if I’m on my desktop, laptop, or phone, they each have whatever the latest note is that I’ve made. I have multiple going at one time, one for a grocery list, one for a work to do list, one for random notes I don’t want to forget, so forth and so on. Apparently there are lots more ways you can use this one that from what I’m aware of, but however you use it, it’s seriously a game changer with work and personal life organization.
  3. Afterlight / Now, there are A LOT of photo editing apps out there, and I’ve tried plenty of them. However, I always come back to Afterlight time and time again. It has everything I need, and I find it every easy to use. Typically, I’ll just brighten or sharpen photos, possibly increase or decrease the saturation a bit, but for the limited amount I edit them, I find this app to be perfect. There are also various filters you can choose from and many other photo editing options. Whether you’re into photography or not, this is a good choice if you want to make your Instagram photos look a tad better!
  4. MINDBODY – Book Fitness Classes, Yoga and Wellness / This makes booking gym classes SO easy. I know many fitness studios and gyms now have their own apps, but I like that most of my favorites are within this one app. Like I said, most, not ALL gyms are apart of it, but it’s great because you can search for deals and classes nearby, so it can introduce you to new places you  might not have even known about. And it’s not just for workout classes, but you can book meditation classes, massages, physical therapy, beauty appointments, and more. It’s a very convenient app, and I love using it.
  5. Coloring Book for Me – Coloring Pages for Adults / This is just a fun one. It really serves no other purpose than providing a little respite from a busy day. It’s basically an adult coloring book in digital form. You pick the colors you want (there are tons to choose from!), you pick a coloring book page, and you fill in the blanks with the colors you want. If you’re on the go, it’s a good option to pass the time or take a break from the hustle and bustle and anxiety of a day. Like I said, it’s simply fun, and sort of silly, but I like it a lot!

Honorable Mentions…

Drybar / I don’t get blowouts all too often, but I won’t lie; I LOVE getting my hair done because I loathe doing it myself. SO, when I do want to get my hair blown out, I love that the Drybar app makes it SO simple to book an appointment.

Huffington Post – News, Politics and Entertainment / I usually get on this app before bed. I read some news, but mostly wellness and inspirational/healthy living type articles. Big fan, though!

BuzzFeed – Tasty, News, Quizzes, and Beyond / I love BuzzFeed. More recently, I discovered their ‘Tasty’ videos and the other day I seriously fell down a rabbit hole and watched one video after another. I don’t know why I find them so fascinating and mesmerizing! Aside from that, I do love a lot of the funny BuzzFeed articles (and some of their quizzes, too!! #yepguilty).

Health / This one comes with the iPhone, so you don’t have to download it I don’t think, but regardless, I really like looking at it for my steps. I don’t have a fitbit or any of those trackers, so I like that I can still keep track of my steps. Of course, if my phone isn’t on me while I’m walking around, those steps won’t get counted, but I still enjoy taking note of how much I’m walking/stepping each day.

And then, of course, I think it goes without saying that social media apps are certainly ones I frequent often. I will say, if I had t pick, Snapchat is still my favorite. I know some people are leaning more towards Insta-stories, but I haven’t ventured over yet; I’m staying loyal to Snapchat, at least for now (follow along – username is jlb4567). Otherwise, you can of course always find me on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and sometimes Pinterest (I gotta get better with Pinterest, though!!).

Now, tell me, what are your favorite apps? I’d really like to hear, so share in the comments below!
